Life is But a Dream
An ultra-Orthodox American Jew moves with his family to a small illegal Israeli outpost in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Undoubtedly as a result of dictates of contemporary capitalist societ, Gedalia has made the decision to join a “human avant-garde”. Evidently for Gedalia, this is an essential tool for the development and operation of the colonial mechanism. In the context of expropriation, Gedalia feels free to build his home and to try to fulfill his dream: a simple life, in harmony with God, outside the laws and duties of society.

The Israeli colonization of the Palestinian territories has been continuing for fifty years thanks to the deployment of a “human avant-garde” that self-manages illegal outposts until the state fully enters the management of the new colony. Gedalia and Shira moved with their six children to Mitzpe Agit in the semi-desert hills that descend towards the Jordan Valley and are part of this vanguard. They have chosen to live this frontier out of convenience, comfort and fascination with that life. their dream of leading a simple life, in harmony with God, outside the laws and duties of society, contrasts with being in one of the most contentious and controversial places on the planet.
