Moby Dick
“Moby Dick” brings Captain Ahab’s ship and his obsession with the White Whale to the square, with a large theatrical machine and a cast of 20 artists, including actors, musicians, acrobats and theatrical machinists. With this work, the Teatro dei Venti has carried out a multi-year artistic research in urban spaces, addressing the themes of a classic of world literature, with a work consisting of philosophical reflection on the unknown, a contamination between languages from West to East and from use of a large theatrical machine, like in a large shipyard. As Pavese writes in the introduction to the novel with his translation, Moby Dick is “the allegory of the spasmodic search, of the thirst for knowledge and revenge, of the relationship between good and evil, of the ferocity and devastating force of nature and man “.
