Berta Film is thrilled to announce that The Opposition is presented for worldwide audience by Witness on Al Jazeera English, on Wednesday 7th february at 8pm (GMT).
The Opposition is an investigative documentary set in Papua New Guinea. The film follows the battle of Joe Moses, the leader of the Paga Hill Settlement, trying to save his 3,000 people before they are brutally evicted from their homes and replaced with a five star hotel and marina.
The Opposition asks how we can ethically build sustainable business in developing countries. It’s a fair question now, that nearly 50 persons from the Paga Hill settlement have died after being evicted from their homes.
In November 2018, there will be an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation APEC -meeting hold in Papua New Guinea, and the Paga Hill site, central in the story of The Opposition, is also the site of some of the APEC-facilities.
The Opposition is a SIMA 2018 finalist in competition for Social Impact Media Award.
